Lactation Consultant Resources

Find about more about being a Professional Lactation Consultant

As a Lactation Consultant, you have a highly important role to play in the community.

By providing support to breastfeeding mothers, you are helping create a positive experience. This can be very rewarding for you as well as the mother and child you offer support to.

To be a Lactation Consultant in Australia or New Zealand, you must hold an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC®) qualification. The resources on this page will help you discover the requirements of achieving this qualification, plus the core documents for being an IBCLC®.

You’ll find information on insurance, IBCLCs® in private practice, and how to renew and keep your certification.

As well as sharing education opportunities, our resources have information on mentoring and clinical supervision.

The information provided is subject to regular review by the LCANZ Board of Directors, and inclusions do not necessarily hold the full endorsement of LCANZ.
