This pre-recorded presentation will provide current evidence related to the facilitation of skin-to-skin contact after caesarean section.

About the presenter:
Jeni Stevens is an IBCLC and a Clinical Midwifery Consultant in Infant Feeding in a Sydney Hospital. She has previously completed honors research on the role of a Doula in Australia. Her PhD research is focused on skin-to-skin contact immediately after a ceasarean section.

Jeni has several published articles, including two on skin-to-skin contact after a caesarean section. One is a literature review titled “Immediate or early skin-to-skin contact after a caesarean section: a review of the literature” and the other is a findings paper titled “A juxtaposition of birth and surgery: Providing skin-to-skin contact in the operating theatre and recovery”.

Jane will explore the many facets of being a Lactation Consultant in private practice from what you need to set up practice and seeing your first client to establishing intense interpersonal relationships and boundary setting.

About the presenter:

Jane is an IBCLC Lactation Consultant in private practice who has focussed her career assisting women to confidently transition into parenthood. Jane believes that women have a right to receive consistent, evidence based and current information to assist them with problem solving their breastfeeding issues. She encourages women to believe in their ability to fulfil the new role of ‘parenthood’ with realistic expectations and an understanding of the normality of many baby behaviours and parental feelings.

Jane is a Registered Nurse and Midwife and Lactation Consultant who has completed the Prescribing for Midwives course at Griffith University- required to become an Endorsed Midwife.
