Guest Speaker: Annabel Crompton
Part 1. Annabel Crompton – ‘Introducing Solids to a Breast Fed baby’
Completed Master of Nutrition & Dietetics in 1992 (research elective: “The incidence of breastfeeding very low birthweight and low birthweight infants”)
Began career in country SA (Port Lincoln) before moving to Women’s and Children’s Hospital in 1994 working in many specialist areas over the next decade including cardiology and gastroenterology and spending six months working at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London specialising in the nutritional management of highly complex gastrointestinal disorders.
Extended career break for parenting in 2007 (two daughters aged 10 and 12 years), returning to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in 2013 in current role working in the areas of neonatology and food service.
Professional interests include nutritional management of preterm and special care neonates and breastfeeding – as a public health issue, and in the clinical support of breastfeeding preterm infants including processing of expressed breastmilk in a hospital setting.
Member of Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) and Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD)
